Dr. Georges Decker obtained his degree in general surgery at the Free University of Brussels in 1998.

He then specialized in thoracic surgery and surgery of the esophagus and the upper digestive tract at the University Hospitals of the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) under Professor Toni Lerut  and the University Hospital of Montpellier (France), under Professor Bertrand Millat.

From 2000 to August 2015 Dr Georges Decker has been consultant thoracic surgeon at the University Hospitals of Leuven.

Since 2000, Dr. Georges Decker has a thoracic surgery practice in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. He has personally performed more than 3,000 interventions in general thoracic surgery and surgery of the upper gastrointestinal tract. The majority of these procedures were performed by minimally invasive techniques: thoracoscopy, VATS and/or laparoscopy.

Dr. Georges Decker is author and co-author of more than 50 scientific papers and 17 chapters in medical textbooks. He is a reviewer for several scientific journals (European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Diseases of the Esophagus, Interactive Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery) and is member of numerous national and international Surgical Societies.

In 2015 he was the first surgeon from Luxembourg to be introduced as member of the prestigious European Surgical Association (ESA).

Since 2007 Dr. Georges Decker is working as a member of the Groupe Chirurgical ZithaKlinik

(Robert Schuman Hospital since 2015).
